Birth Of Joy – Prisoner
With shows all over Europe and America, the psychedelic rockers of Birth Of Joy have proven to be a real live sensation. The band is a master in evoking a primal feeling that is hidden in many of us. A feeling that has been waiting to break out for ages. A feeling that you experience when you experience something pure, something real, something authentic. Well, these men have it all: a big portion of sex, drugs and rock & roll to the max! Blood, sweat and … mainly alcohol!
With a minimal line-up of guitar, drums and a tearing combo organ, this pounding and grooving rock & roll trio provides a super tight and melodic rock sound that leans heavily on the Detroit sound of MC5, the accessible pop of The Doors and the psychedelica of Pink Floyd. Bob is a maniacal drummer from the John Bonham school, Gert-Jan whips up his organs to a true orgasm and Kevin seems like a reincarnated power version of Jim Morrison. But these gentlemen, born in the 80s themselves, go further than just back to retro and with influences from grunge, stoner and punk they provide a new and unique sound that stands like a house! The album Prisoner was recorded and produced in November 2013 by Joris Wolff (De Staat, Within Temptation and Mister and Mississippi) and was mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, David Lynch and Dr. John).
