Valtakunta comes from Eero Koivistoinen, one of the major figures in Finnish jazz. A wide-ranging composer and musician, Koivistoinen founded an avant-garde and fusion jazz trio with Pekka Sarmanto and Edward Vesala in 1965 before joining Blues Section, regarded as Finland’s first progressive rock band, in 1967.
