Malford Milligan & The Southern Aces – Life Will Humble You
With his powerful, soulful voice and impressive appearance, Malford Milligan is often compared to soul icons such as Otis Redding and Al Green.
As a singer, Malford Milligan was the only one in history to be awarded the title of best vocalist no less than 8 times at the Austin Music Awards.
As the frontman of the band Storyville, he achieved great national success and collaborations with the Dutch Jack Hustinx (frontman & founder of Shiner Twins) were also received with praise; “the best Americana album from the Netherlands could well have been made by Jack Hustinx & The Southern Aces. In fact, with Over Yonder he can even compete with the best in Texas” – AltCountry (2015)
The Southern Aces & J.W. Roy: In addition to Hustinx (acoustic guitar & backing vocals), the rest of the band ‘The Southern Aces’ consists of Dutch artists who are no strangers (in the Dutch roots circuit). Roel Spanjers (piano, hammond, accordion & backing vocals), Eric van Dijsseldonk (electric guitar), Roelof Klijn (bass) and Nicky Hustinx (drums & percussion) were approached by Malford to create space for his voice.
Milligan also managed to get Dutch singer and songwriter J.W. Roy for a duet of the classic ‘Feel Like Going Home’ that was originally written by Charlie Rich. Together they gave the song a gospel-like twist and it is the first single.
