Wretch
The Gates of Slumber – The Wretch is a towering slab of traditional doom metal, drenched in sorrow, heaviness, and slow-burning power. Pressed on double vinyl and housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve, this 2011 release sees the Indianapolis trio embracing a stripped-down, rawer approach — channeling the spirit of genre forebears like Saint Vitus, Pentagram, and Black Sabbath.
With its thundering riffs, mournful melodies, and lyrical themes of isolation and despair, The Wretch marks a return to the essence of doom: slow, crushing, and emotionally potent. Vocalist and guitarist Karl Simon delivers one of his most passionate performances, backed by a rhythm section that hits with unstoppable force.
